That gap is the reason 2717 Defensive Concepts exists. Most CCW courses teach exactly what the state requires to legally carry — and nothing more. No live draw from concealment. No grip or stance built for recoil. No follow-up shots under time pressure. That's not a failure of those classes; it was never their job. It's ours.
From Competition to Instruction
As a former competitive shooter, I recognized a growing need to help others become more self-sufficient in defending themselves responsibly and effectively. Over time, my focus naturally shifted from competition to instruction — teaching individuals how to handle firearms safely, confidently, and with purpose.
I firmly believe every law-abiding citizen has the right to carry and protect themselves and their loved ones. But that right comes with a profound responsibility. Responsible firearm ownership requires a commitment to continuous training, discipline, and mastery of the skills that ensure safety in every situation. My mission is to empower students to perform with clarity and confidence under pressure — not just technical proficiency, but the mindset and composure required to prevail when it matters most.
The Program
2717 was built specifically for the person who already did the responsible thing — got licensed, got informed — and is ready for the step most people don't know exists. The Defensive Pistol Program picks up exactly where a CCW class leaves off, module by module, building the skills that actually get tested when it matters. Students who finish all five DPP modules and want to keep sharpening move into our Post-DPP training — a continuation, not a separate track.

Our name comes from Proverbs 27:17 — "Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another." That's how training works here. Growth goes both directions. Every class makes me a better instructor, and every student who returns for the next module makes this whole community sharper.
